ACQUAVIVA

Vineyard: The areas of vineyards in the cellar of Acquaviva of 580 hectares, 400 are those of Piceno Superiore. It encompasses extensive area of hills throughout. The red grape varieties cultivated are typical of Piceno Superiore originate precisely in Central Italy :Montepulciano and Sangiovese. Also two typical Verdicchio and Trebbiano grapes are grown and not as common as Pecorino and Passerina.

Microclimate: The microclimate of vineyards is ideal for red wines as the high hills endure a short distance from the coast. The altitude of the hills is between 200 & 400 meters a.s.l. The soils are rich in sand, sandstone and marly clays.

History: The Cooperative Society "Colli di Acquaviva" began its activity in 1961, and the winery was built in 1965. In 1968 Piceno Superiore was assigned as DOC, one of the first DOC in Italy . In the late '90s collaboration with Moncaro began which lead to the acquisition of winery in 1999 by Moncaro

Wine Cellar: The goal is to maximize the quality, cost management for red wines of relevant high quality, enjoyable and affordable with a proper market positioning. The aim is achieved thanks to the modern wine makers of steel, the use of automatic temperature control and not oversized, but with a proper scale production. The barrels used in wine cellars are Slavonian oak but mainly French ( Allier ) as well as the Barrique.
